How to use the app
Start with Quoting a job. It covers most of what you need, and the rest is here if you get stuck.
Quoting a job
It takes three screens to go from an empty quote to a price.

Name the job
Tap New quote on the home screen. A project name is all you have to fill in. The site address and customer details are there if you want them on the PDF, but you can skip them.

Mark the fence
Search the property address, then drop a pin at each corner and strainer. Tap Connect fence-line and tap the pins in order to join them up. The app measures each run as you go.
Tap a pin to add the strainers, gates, stays or restrains at that spot. All of it flows through to the quote.

Check the price
Your length, posts and gates are already filled in. Set your fence type, adjust anything you need to, and the total updates as you go. Save it, share a link or export a PDF from the footer.
The quote screen picks up the length, strainers, stays and gate from the map.
You don't need to set up prices before you quote. New quotes use your saved prices straight away. If you need to change a price for one job, Adjust pricing is in the footer of the quote screen.
Fence types
Open Fence Type on the quote screen and tick what the fence is made of: plain wire, barbed wire, electric wire, hinged joint, netting or exclusion mesh. Each one opens up when you tick it, so you can choose the product and how many strands.
Each run can only have one mesh. If you need hinged joint along one boundary and netting along another, add a second fence type.
More than one fence in a quote
Use Add another fence type at the top of the Fence Type card. Each one gets its own type, star posts and length. They all go on the same quote, with the material costs listed separately.
The first fence takes whatever metres are left over. If the map says 800 m and you give the second fence 300 m, the first one becomes 500 m. If you redraw the map later, it adjusts itself.
Wire that isn't in your pricing yet
Tap New wire type under any wire, put in the description, roll length and price, and it's priced straight away. Leave the save box ticked to add it to your pricing for next time, or untick it if it's a one-off.
The map
The map uses satellite imagery, so you're working off what's actually there. Search the address to jump to the property.
- Line up the crosshair and tap Place pin. Drag a pin if it's in the wrong spot.
- Connect fence-line joins pins into runs and shows the distance on each leg.
- Tap a pin to add strainers, gates, stays or restrains at that point.
- Undo, Remove fence-lines and Clear all are in the top corner.
Fence lines save with the quote, so when you reopen a job the line is still drawn on the property.
Your pricing
All your prices are under Pricing on the home screen: wire, posts, strainers, stays, gates, rail panels, travel and labour rates. Set them up once and every new quote uses them.
A quote keeps the prices it was made with. If you put your prices up in March, the quote you sent in January still shows what you sent.
If an old quote's prices no longer match your current ones, the quote screen tells you and shows which prices are different and by how much. Tap Update to your pricing to bring the current prices across.
The quote screen
Everything is itemised, and the total and cost breakdown update as you make changes. Star posts sit under the fence type, because spacing and height depend on the fence.
Also on the quote screen:
- Underground services search adds a locate to the job. Set your standard price once in Pricing, then tick it on the quotes that need it.
- Additional items is for anything the app doesn't cover. Add a description and price and it goes straight onto the total.
- Adjust pricing changes prices for that quote only. Your saved pricing stays the same.
Saved quotes
Your saved jobs are under Saved Quotes. You can reopen, rename or copy them. A copy brings the fence line with it, so a similar job next door is mostly done already.
Sending to Xero
Connect Xero once under Settings. After that, Send to Xero creates a draft quote in Xero for you to check and send. Put the customer's name on the quote and the app matches it to your Xero contacts, or makes a new contact if there's no match.
It always creates a draft, so nothing goes to a customer until you've checked it.
Your account
The app is free to use. There's no trial and no subscription.
You do need an account, because your quotes and fence lines sync to it. Sign in on your phone at the property and the same jobs are on your computer back at the shed.
Common questions
If I change my prices, do my old quotes change too?
No. Each quote keeps the prices it was made with. Changing your pricing only affects quotes you make after that.
Can I have two different fence types on one quote?
Yes, up to five. Use Add another fence type on the Fence Type card. Each one gets its own length and star posts, and the material costs are listed separately in the breakdown.
Can my customer open a shared quote without the app?
Yes. A share link opens in any browser, with no app or account needed.
Does it work without phone signal?
Partly. The satellite map needs signal to load, and quotes sync when you're back in range. Load the property while you have signal and you can keep working as you walk the line.
Is there an iPhone app?
Yes. FenceItNow is free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. On a computer or an Android phone, it runs in any browser.
